The hosts and Keri discuss the importance of inclusivity, overcoming gym intimidation, and redefining fitness goals. Keri encourages finding joy in movement, breath control, and self-awareness during exercise while offering practical advice for starting, improving, or embracing your fitness journey.
***Keri Harvey is a NASM-certified personal trainer and a Pain-Free Performance Specialist. She began her career in personal training after her fitness journey transformed from aesthetic focused to working to feel strong and capable in everyday life. Keri moved from Texas to New York in March 2022 largely because she had a desire to be part of the positive changes Form Fitness Brooklyn was making in the fitness industry. Most recently Keri was introduced to powerlifting and competed in her first sanctioned meet where she was awarded first place in her weight-class.
In addition to one-on-one training, she has had the privilege to be featured as one of Self magazine’s Everyday Athletes and collaborated as a fitness expert in Shape, Self, Livestrong, and Women’s Health magazines. Her ultimate goal is to help cultivate an inclusive and welcoming environment in the gym and for all of her clients to leave each session feeling strong and powerful.

** Dr. Joy Williams is an obstetrics and gynecology specialist raised in Southern California. She is the daughter of a retired general surgeon and a registered nurse. Her sister is also an OB-GYN. She received her undergraduate degree at Stanford University, Medical School at Loma Linda School of Medicine and residency at the White Memorial Medical Center in East LA.
Dr. Williams has been in practice for 24 years in the Los Angeles area, helping women live their healthiest lives before conception, during pregnancy and childbirth, through menopause, and beyond. She is a mother of three: a son in graduate school, a son in college, and a daughter starting middle school.

**Dr. Marcelle Haddix is Associate Provost for Strategic Initiatives and Distinguished Dean’s Professor of Literacy, Race, and Justice at Syracuse University. She is a founding co-director of the Lender Center for Social Justice. Dr. Haddix has facilitated literacy and wellness programs for adolescent and adult communities in Syracuse, including the Writing Our Lives project for urban youth writers a Black women’s literary club, and free library project A 500-hour certified registered yoga instructor and reproductive wellness doula, Dr. Haddix is co-founder of the Sankofa Reproductive Health and Healing Center and a founding member of the Café Sankofa Cooperative.
